Hello, I'm Carol O'Sullivan of Fur Fur
Rabbitry
located in Toronto, Ontario
Canada.
I raise and show American fuzzy lops and Holland lops in Canada and the USA.
I'm a member of ARBA ( American Rabbit Breeders Association ) and AFLRC (
American Fuzzy lop Rabbit Club ).
American Fuzzy lops and Holland lops can be delivered to shows in the following states;
NY, OH and MI.
My
Fuzzy lops live indoors. This makes it convinient for me to check on them in
the morning before work and spend time with them in the evenings. It
is temperature controlled. I have natural daylight bulbs to provide 14 hours of light each
day. They have a special ventilation system installed, pelleted bedding
with Stall-Dri for odor control. They are all cleaned out twice a week.
My rabbits
take turns being house bunnies and watching TV with us.
I have playpens in the backyard for good weather.
The
Neighborhood kids come over and each choose a bunny to take out on a
harness. It would be normal to see four or five bunnies on harnesses in my
yard or at the park across my street.
I'm in the
process of building a 20' X 9' enclosed lattice bunny run. This will allow
the bunnies to enjoy the good weather unsupervised in large exercise pens and be safe from predators. Right now they
only go out if we're home to watch them. I will still maintain indoor
cages so the rabbits come inside when the weather is too hot, too damp or
too cold.
I keep 20
holes and can go up to 30. This means I must sell bunnies I'd prefer to
keep. Most of my rabbits are retired to pet homes since they are so well
handled and spoiled. They make ideal house rabbits.
Pet owners are allowed
to return the bunny if they decide they no longer want a bunny. I don't
want my rabbits turned loose in parks to fend for themselves or burden the
SPCA.
I haven't
had any come back yet, but the offer is always there.
I do a follow-up email or call after my bunny goes off with it's new owner
to make sure all is going well.
I normally try to send samples of the pelleted bedding, hay and basic
first aid items with the rabbit. I'm available to help answer any
questions the new pet owner has regarding the bunny. I offer continued
support of any rabbit I send to a pet home.
I've rescued a few abandoned bunnies (not from my rabbitry) in the past
but for the health and safety of my herd I try to keep that to a minimum.
